Sometimes all your phone system needs is just a little bit of love or attention (read: maintenance and support), and not to be replaced or even upgraded. But, if for any reason, you decide to go along that path, I suggest you read this article to the end and you may save thousands!

- Use a pure HPBX service if you have fewer than 5-6 users, and you are OK to sacrifice some advanced telephony features and customizations just to get a hassle-free system that requires zero technical knowledge and initial IT investment. Be ready to pay more as you go.
- Use Microsoft Teams Telephony or Calling Plans if your organization highly relies on Microsoft’s ecosystem and users already have E3, E5, or other required licensing. Make sure you understand how the PSTN connectivity works and what the available options are in your country/market before signing a contract. You still can sign up for MS-Teams telephony if you don’t care that much about the money and some very basic telephony features, but instead, you love the brand and pray for the luxury of the environment. Your mobile phone is probably an iPhone if you are in the latter group 😊
- Use Mitel, Avaya, NEC, Cisco, or whatever hardware and on-premises-based solutions if you are ready to pay double or triple for support, upgrade, expansion, and other hidden costs involved. Plus, there is a chance that you have to put them in a bin in a few years’ period as they’re going to be the Nokia of the PBX market. I believe many organizations are still using them mainly because it is the only solution their IT provider can do, or their IT/Telco provider hates them!
- Use a 3CX phone system, combined with a Preferred (not just supported) SIP trunk provider such as Breeze Connect, if you’re looking for the best value for your money and want to have full control over your business voice calls and Unified Communications. It’s cloud-based, reliable, easy to set up, support, and expand, and requires a minimum initial investment to get started.
